Abstract

6218. Pope, C. A. March 14. Shackles.-In locking- devices for the pins of shackles for colliery wagons, corves, &c., the shackle is provided with a flanged or mushroom collar a, Fig. 1, and the head c of the pin d is fitted with a pivoted link e of trapezoidal or similar form. When the pin is inserted, the cross-bar f of the link e automatically swings under the flange of the collar a to prevent the pin from rising. The bar f may be curved on both sides to conform with the curve of the collar a. The end h of the pin is riveted over as usual to prevent it from leaving the upper limb of the shackle.
