Abstract
4243. Hudson, W. S., and Hudson, E. Feb. 20. Wagons.-To facilitate transport, the bodies and underframes of tip wagons or trucks are so proportioned that one or more practically c o m - . plete underframes may be packed within two bodies secured together mouth to mouth. Fig. 1 shows two bodies in which may be packed one underframe d and parts of another, the bodies in this case having tapering sides. The two bodies a are each made of s h e e t metal strengthened round the mouth edges by a bar b round which the edges c are curled, and each is provided at one end with a plate h projecting beyond the mouth ; the y are secured together by bolts g passing through the plates h and through clips j. Fig. 3 shows two underframes packed inside two bodies having parallel sides and rounded bottoms, the bodies being secured together by means of large saddle or U-shaped bolts m, embracing the underframes d, and the clips j. The body supports n may be secured beneath the frames during transport, as shown.
