Leaf-turners.-A leaf-turner of the type in which spring-actuated arms are released one at a time by the operation of a cam comprises a series of arms A, B, C, D mounted on a spindle E, each arm being provided at its outer end with a clip F, G, H, I. The spindle E is supported in a bracket q attached to the music stand by screws r, r, and a guard s may be employed to protect the arm-operating springs L, M, which are connected to the arms by cords J, K. The release gear consists of a compound cam T having cutaway faces a, b on its two portions, and is operated by a lever attached to its spindle U acting against a spring u fixed at one end to the cam T and at the other to a loose disk v. The lever is operated manually or by the breath. The spindle U is mounted in a flexible bracket W<1> which can be adjusted in position by a screw z mounted in one arm of a rigid bracket Y. A screw y, mounted in another arm of the bracket Y, is adapted to engage the disk v which can be thus secured in the position required for adjusting the tension of the spring u. A stop x is adapted to engage a secured portion of the cam T and to limit the amount of its rotation. The sheet clips F, G, H, I, Fig. 5, consist of two plates connected by a spring joint, each clip having a distance-piece f, g, h, i interposed between the plates at one end. The clips may be all preseed together to open the sheet ends, and may be retained in that position by means of a pivoted arm p, Fig. 1, while the sheets are inserted.
