Abstract

2909. Brunner, K., and B³hring, O. Feb. 5. Liquids and gases or vapours, separating.-In apparatus for separating liquids from gases, for example oil from steam, of the type in which perforated tubes are arranged transversely to the direction of flow, the perforated portions of the tubes are disposed at an angle to the direction. In one form, Fig. 1, the tubes are triangular in cross-section and are provided on the two sides facing the flow with perforations having guiding projections a. Some of the tubes may have a new aperture in the remaining side ; they may also be provided with dividing-plates b extending forward as shown. In another arrangement, the tubes have each a re-entrant side- and are disposed as shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 6 illustrates a convenient form of construction, each series of tubes resulting from the juxtaposition of two plates d bent oppositely so as to produce triangular projections e. Various methods of arranging the tubes in a casing are described in the Specification. The arrangement shown in Fig. 11 consists of tiers of parallel tubes supported in a casing f and inclining towards the diametrical passage m. The steam enters at g, passes down amongst the tubes, and escapes at h, while the oil collects in a trough n and flows to a chamber p separated from the steam chamber by a perforated partition r.
