Fans.-A centrifugal fan is built up of several elements, each of the same outside diameter and axial length but with the radial depth of the blades decreasing and the number of blades increasing towards the eye of the fan. In the form shown in Fig. 1, three elements are employed, the blades in each element having the same radial depth ; while in the form shown in Fig. 2, the radial depth decreases uniformly throughout. Fig. 2<a> shows a fan of this type fitted on the middle element, with atomizing-disks on which water is sprayed.
