Filing papers &c.-Relates to telescopic posts of loose-leaf books or binders, arranged so as to be engaged frictionally one with the other, to lock the binder against movement, by the expansion or contraction of one of the members. Fig. 1 shows telescopic posts a, b attached to the plates e, f of the binder. The end of the inner member a is split as at j and is engaged by the conical head h of a rod g. The rod g is moved to expand the end of the post a into frictional grip with the post b, by a sliding wedge n engaging the inclined head h of the rod. The wedges n of the two locking-posts may be operated by toggle links connected with an operating slide p. This slide may be held in the engaged position by a lock q. A spring r disengages the members when the head k is released. In a modification, the tubular part a is movable relatively to the rod g which is fixed to the binder-plate. Fig. 7 shows another modification in which the inner post is formed of two relatively-movable parts y, z having engaging inclines 2, 3.
