27,116. Slipper, T. G. Nov. 28. Gas and explosivevapour engines. - The wall of an exhaust-heated vaporizer suitable for use with kerosene or paraffin oil is pierced with metal studs projecting on both sides, the ends projecting into the mixture being flattened out and placed across the direction of flow of the gases. Fig. 2 shows in cross-section an arrangement in which the exhaust pisses through a pipe e, while an annular passage a conveys the mixture to the engine, the studs g being placed as shown. When a plane partition separates the two chambers, baffleplates may be provided to cause the mixture to travel by a circuitous path. A coil of wire may be placed in the vaporizer, to assist starting after short intervals of rest. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention is especially applicable to carburettors such as that described in Specification No. 8358, A.D. 1906.
