Window opening and closing apparatus; stays.- Fan-lights and sashes on horizontal pivots are operated by a pole, the ferruled end S of which, on entering an aperture H in a bracket G attached to the sash, depresses a latch M, thus effecting the disengagement of a spring bolt P from a fixed recess Q. The sash is then free to open, the end of the bolt P travelling along a smooth pivoted stay-bar A and acting as a brake. The sash can be turned right back for cleaning &c., on the removal of a thumb-screw K.
