Abstract
24,284. Andrew, C. H., Andrew, H. E. B., and Andrew & Son, C. H. Oct. 31. Tobacco.-Relates to apparatus for removing the stalk or a portion thereof from tobacco leaves. Two endless bands a, preferably flat and of steel, seize the leaf and carry it against a rotary or other cutter l<1>. Diagonally-placed rotary brushes h, which may be replaced by other forms, assist in carrying the leaf forwards and also draw it sideways so as to bring the stalk to the cutter. Guides m are provided for the bands a, which run in grooves n in the edges thereof. The pulleys b round which the bands pass are preferably placed at an angle to one another as shown.
