Ignition Installations For Internal Combustion Engines
(AREA)
Abstract
23,810. Ayton, R. Oct. 26. Gas and like engines, igniting in. Ignition is effected at two or more points simultaneously by using two or more double-pole sparking-plugs connected in series, such series being preferably terminated by a single-pole or earthed plug. In the diagrammatic arrangement shown in Fig. 1, a double-pole plug is shown at DP, a single-pole plug at SP, and the secondary coil at S. One form of double-pole plug is shown in Fig. 2, in which the terminals t, t<1> are connected, respectively, to the conductors 2, 3 which are embedded in insulation 4 held in the body 5 by the screwed gland 6. In the alternative form shown in Fig. 3, the conductors are parallel. With the above arrangement, the usually idle spark-gap is made to assist in igniting.
