Abstract

18,368. Heffernan, T. Aug. 16. Bottles, non-refillable. -A capsule a provided with liquid outlets 2 is compressed or sprung over the bottle neck. The upper part of the capsule is formed with quick screw-threads adapted to be engaged by projections 5 on a revoluble cap 6. When screwed down, the cap bears on a marble 10, and causes it to close a valve 7 seating in the upper part of the neck. The marble may be replaced by a spindle depending from the cap ; or, as shown in Fig. 6, the marble may bear directly on a valve seating and be controlled by a cap 15 adapted to screw on to the capsule 13, locking-means being provided to prevent the cap from being entirely withdrawn. The valve may be controlled by a perforated disk 20, Fig. 8, carried by a screwspindle 18 working through the top of the capsule and provided with an operating disk 19. Or, the upper face of the valve may be formed with camsurfaces 24, Fig. 12, adapted to co-operate with a projection 23 depending from the disk 20, the spindle of the operating-disk 19 in this instance being plain. Or, as shown in Fig. 15, the camsurfaces may be formed on the upper surface 24 of the controlling-disk and the underside 23 of the top of the capsule. The cap 26, Fig. 17, or the part of the capsule which carries the valve-controlling means, may be removably connected to the capsule proper, so that when the capsule is destroyed, the other parts may be used again.
