Bottles, non-refillable.-Relates to a non-refillable bottle of the type described in Specification No. 9326, A .D. 1908, in which a plug a containing detector material 2 is situated in the neck of the bottle. The discharge orifice 3 of the plug is closed by a stopper 25, the stem 32 of which is oval in section and is adapted to slide in a similarly-shaped hole in a perforated disk 15. The disk, which has an annular projection 21 to prevent leakage up the stopper stem, is retained in place by means of a screwed metal cap 38, portions of the cap being afterwards pressed into one or more interruptions in the thread on the bottle neck, as described in connexion with Specification No. 21,141, A.D. 1908. A second metal cap 46 screws over the first and keeps the stopper pressed on its seating. In modifications, the metal cap 38 is dispensed with and the perforated disk secured inside the neck by means of a spring ring. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the perforated disk is made, as described in Specification No. 21.138, A.D. 1908, in two parts secured to one another by a bush 53, and as an alternative the metal cap 46 may be attached to the neck by a bayonet-joint instead of by screwthreads. In each case, the stem of the stopper is notched to afford means for lifting the stopper from its seat if sticking occurs. To empty the bottle, the cap 46 is removed, the stopper eased from its seating, and the liquid poured out. The bottle may be temporarily stoppered during the pouring-out by pressing with the finger on the top of the stopper stem. An attempt to refill results in the flooding of the detector chamber.
