Abstract

18,095. Parkyn, W. J., Bradley, T., and Gresty, J. Aug. 13. Water-tube boilers.-Relates to modifications in the boiler described in Specification No. 5832, A.D. 1906. According to the present invention, the various pipe connexions f, g, h, &c. are made with detachable joints. Flanged joints are shown, but screwed nipples or the like may be employed. Hot water, taken either from the outlet end of the feed-heater or the drum n, is mixed with the cold feed before it enters the heater. As shown in Fig. 9, the hot water is supplied to the suction side of the feed-pump q by the small pipes j, j<1>. The boiler casing is preferably lined with suitable material, such as fire-tiles, in which passages t, Fig. 6, for heating the air supply to the ash-pit and above the fire are formed.
