Looms, forming selvedges in; healds ; shedding- motions.-In double - lift j a cquard looms for weaving slit-up fabrics, apparatus is provided for forming internal cross-woven selvedges. A reciprocating threadguide or heald F passes through a slot in a bearing F<1> at the back of the jacquard, and d is connected at its lower end to a spring attached to the framing, or to a weight. Cords E, E<1> are attached to the upper end of the guide F, pass over rotatable drums D, D<1> on. brackets secured to the jacquard lifts A, A<1> and are attached to the lifts A', A respectively. Selvedge warps W, W<1> pass from the warp beam through guide-eyes J, J<1> on the bearing F<1>, down through eyes H, H<1> in needles, and forwards to the fell of the fabric. The other warps W<2>, W3 of the pairs of selvedge warps pass through eyes K, K<1> in the guide F to the fell. The needles with the eyes H, H<1> are mounted in divisions formed by bars H<2>, H<3>, H<4>. As the jacquard-lifts rise and fall, the guide F is raised and lowered and moved from side to side, so that the warps W<2>, W<3> are raised above and lowered below the warps W, W<1> alternately on opposite sides of these warps, and cross-woven internal selvedges are formed in the fabric.
