14,153. Higginson, J., and Arundel, H. June20. Winding-machines.-In s p l i tdrum winding, doubling, or gassing frames, the yarn is directed into the slit by means of a notched lug c secured to a bar a, which is reciprocated d parallel to the drum shaft and in unison with the rotation of the drum, by means of a link and crank-disk e, driven from the drum shaft, or by a cam, or directly from the slit. In a modification, two notched lugs are secured to the bar the traverse of which is then reduced. The yarn is temporarily depressed into engagement with the notch by hand or by any known device, e.g. by a rocking lever carrying the yarn guide, and may be raised fur disengagement.
