Abstract
12,821. British Thomson-Houston Co., [Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.]. June 1. Electric railways on the overheadconductor system. Conductors for electric railways are suspended in such a way that variations in temperature do not cause corresponding irregular variations in the height of the wire from the ground, by securing the main supporting-wire c to the insulators b, and fixing a second supporting-wire e to the first wire c at points d equidistant from the insulating-supports b. A third supporting-wire g, from which the conductor h is carried, is similarly fixed to the second wire at symmetricallyplaced points f. Instead of three, other numbers of carrying-wires may be used. Fig. 3 shows in plan an arrangement of guy wires k to guard against side swing, in place of which two carrying-wire systems in two inclined planes may be used.
