Moulding building-blocks.-Interchangeable sliding cores 57, 60, 61 are placed in open-ended moulds 5U in which cement, concrete, or the like is moulded into blocks for buildings, foundations, partitions, retaining-walls, columns, chimney flues, &c. The material being filled in, in the position shown, a pallet-board is placed on top and held tightly in place, the mould is turned on its trunnions 51, and the core ends are submitted to pressure till they are in alinement with the mould walls. The blocks being of varying cross-section, the various cores are adapted to be forced in different distances corresponding to the thickness of the material at the various points. The filler 56 adjusts the breadth of the block, and a device 62 comprising boards connected together by spring-surrounded bolts so that it collapses under pressure, fits across the mould and adjusts the width. The side of the device 62 in contact with the material is metal covered, and the pallet is held in position by normally spring-pressed arms raised and moved in and out by cams. Rods passing through slots 58 hold the cores 57 in the mould. A rim placed round the edge while the block is moulded gives the edge a cut-stone appearance.
