Abstract
10,999. Chemische Fabrik von Heyden Akt.-Ges. Sept. 4, 1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Isobornyl esters are produced by heating pinene hydrochloride or hydrobromide with fatty-acid salts of zinc, copper, iron, or other heavy metals, in presence of free fatty acids, and, in the case of salts other than zinc, copper, and iron, in presence of zinc halogenide. The metallic oxides and excess of fatty acid may be used. In examples, the production of the following bodies by treating pinene hydrochloride with the corresponding acid and with oxides of zinc, iron, copper, or lead, is described, namely, isobornylformate, acetate, and isobutyrate.
