Abstract

Treatment process is one in which sinter is subjected to preheating in a vertical fluidiser followed by reduction in a horizontal fluidised bed in which the residence time in the fluidiser can be accurately controlled. The sinter from stage 1 which has been carefully heat treated to ensure that its temp. is homogeneous is treated with a reducing gas consisting usually of a mixture of H2 and CO2 from a cracking plant. 85% of the theoretical quantity of Wustite has been reduced after staying 25 min in the horizontal fluidiser with a productivity of 3t/h/m2.
