Abstract

10,274. Cunningham, W. May 2. Traversers.-The rails a, b are formed with gaps or spaces in which is laid an auxiliary set of rails g, at a lower level and at a suitable angle to the rails a, b. Trollies e,f are adapted to run on the rails g and carry rails c, d which are of sufficient length to bridge the gaps in the rails a, b. When it is desired to move a truck j or other railway or tramway carriage from one rail to the other, the truck is run on the trolly e, which is then moved until it is opposite the gap in the rails b. In order to retain the trolly in position so that the rails a, c are continuous, plates p, Fig. 2, are slidably mounted on pins p<1> passing through the rails c and are moved to grip the ends of the rails a. by a tumbler lever n secured to a transverse rod l. The trolly may be moved by steam or other power.
