9447. Laybourne, A. H., and McKaig, J. Oct. 19. Crossings with movable parts.- Wing rails which are moved i n t o contact with the crossing vee are mounted in an inclined position and are raised relative to the vee so that the treads of the wing rail and vee lie in the contact plane of the wheel tyre. The vee B is secured on a plate E extending to the hinge joint of the wing rails A which are secured to inclined plates M sliding on the plate E. Ridges or strips K cast or fastened on to the plate E form guides for the plates M, and may support the wing rails. The plate E may be replaced in part or wholly by separate base-plates on each sleeper.
