Abstract
7555. Parrock, L. A. March 29. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Brakes.-A skid brake for road vehicles, which serves also as a restbar for relieving the weight upon the horse's back and may be applied to mechanically - propelled vehicles, comprises a brake shoe f connected to a lever e which is pivoted to a lug d hung from the axle of the vehicle by rods a pivoted to eyes b. The shoe f is furthersupported by stays l pivoted to the lug d and connected to the underframe of the body by eyes, shackles, or chains l<2>. The brake is operated by means of a hand-lever k, transverse shaft i, and rods h, g, the latter rod being pivoted to the upper end of the brake lever e. A similar arrangement with two brake shoes is also described. In modifications, the brake may be operated by wheel-and-screw, foot-lever, or other gear, and a tension spring may be provided for relieving the shoe from shock by raising it slightly above the ground.
