6868. Barr, A. March 22. Tarpaulin supports and fasteners.-Wagon tarpaulins and the like s are supported on a bar q secuted at its end to telescopic posts c, Fig. 1. A rod g, secured at its upper end to the post c, passes through a bracket f on the socket b, and is provided with an arm h which encircles the socket b. A cord i for raising the post c is fixed at one end to the arm h and passes around a pulley j, preferably of the type described in Specification No. 25,044, A.D. 1893, [Abridgment Class Ropes &c.], and having notches on one edge for securing the cord in any position. In modifications shown in Figs. 7 and 11, the socket b is provided with a slot b<1> to guide a pin c<1> on the post c, which is secured in position by the cord i passing over the pulley j or by bayonet-slots b<5>. In a further modification, the post c, Fig. 12, is slotted at c<3>, and the cord i is connected to the bottom of the post c. Stays u, Fig. 5, are also provided to hold the tarpaulin in its extended position.
