Abstract
2174. Kingston, J. S. Jan. 29. Drawings to Specification. Contact-makers.-The doors of railway carriages have contact-makers arranged to close a bell circuit when any door is opened. The guard has a switch to break the circuit at stations &c., and such switch may be operated by the opening of the door of the guard's compartment. The doors on each side of the train may be connected in a separate circuit to an indicator in the van. A coupling is described having binding-posts of various crosssections on to whichdisks on the ends and the connecting-wires are fitted, the disks having holes of various shapes to correspond to those of the binding-posts.
