Abstract

2132. Waldrich, H. A. Jan. 27. Bevelling; surfacing and polishing.-In machines for bevelling glass plates and polishing the bevels, the felt cover of the polishing-blook is made readily renewable and a wavy motion is imparted to the polishing-blocks. The felt a, Fig. 5, is attached to the shoe b, which is removably secured to a block pivotally carried at the bottom of a rod q. The rod q, Fig. 3, is carried by the bracket t, and a spring s is provided to adjust the pressure of the polishing-block on the work. The polishing-blocks are moved over the work by reciprocation of the part e to which the bracket t is attached. A reciprocatory motion in a perpendicular direction is imparted to them by a rotating eccentricallymounted shaft f, which presses against the blocks and rotates them on their pivots d. This motion may be imparted by replacing the shaft f by a reciprocating bar provided with inclined slots which engage with fixed pins.
