Abstract
701. Soc. Anon. d'ElectricitÚ et d'Automobiles Mors. May 17, 1905, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Brakes.-A flexible band B is pivoted to a fixed point C and secured at its ends to arms d on an operating-lever D. The brake drum A has keyed to it a capstan G, which is surrounded by one or more turns of a band H secured at its ends to arms d<1>, d' on the lever D. When the lever D is moved in the direction of the arrow to apply the brake band B to the drum A, a pull on the end H<2> of the band H is transmitted by the end H<1> to its arm d', and tends to cause the lever D to pivot further round and thereby cause an increased braking action. The Specification in the original form as published under the Act of 1901 also states that the invention is applicable to all kinds of circular brakes employing bands, collars, or jaws for internal or external pressures. This subject-matter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
