Keyholes, obstructing; latches.-A sliding plate f, openable by a cam e on the inside handle spindle, is mounted in the casing and adapted, when moved, to cover the outside keyhole to prevent picking. In conjunction with pins h on the casing, the cam e may be used also to block the bolt b in its shot or withdrawn position. In double handed locks, a double plate is used so as to cover both the keyholes or that one of them which is outside, and the knob is fitted so as to be interchangeable from one side to the other. The bolt and sliding plate are controlled by the springs i, g, respectively, the spring i being the stronger.
