Abstract
25,699. Paulet, S. H. Dec. 11. Supports.-For supporting a bicycle, two legs A hinged together within a tube K<1> are pressed down into operative position by a spring H<1> and retracted by a wire D<2> connected to a lever W. The tube is carried by two screwed rods K clipped to the chain stays and passed through eyes upon the tube, adjustment being effected by threading the eyes or by the use of nuts above and below the eyes. The legs pass out of the tube through slots in a lower end plate. The spring, abutting against the top of the tube, is attached to a disk F<1> which is mounted upon the screwed shank of a ring C' passing into a bridge-piece L<1>. The lever W, hinged upon the outstanding members of a U-piece upon a clip S, is slotted at 0 to receive the wire, which is connected to a pin K'. The lever abuts against a protective band M'. On the lever being turned down, the legs are lowered by the spring into operative position, projections C engaging the slotted plate to limit the motion. In lieu of using the lever, a bolt provided with a handle and connected to the operating-wire may be arranged to slide in a bayonet-slotted tube clipped to the machine. Fig. 7 shows a modified form of suppoit in which the tube K<1> is dispensed with. The spring D passing through a bole A' is connected to a ring G and to a. U-piece E carried by a plate B. which is supported by screwed stems M from the chain stays. The legs A pass through slots C, pins H limiting the downward motion.
