23,756. Hill, E. W. Nov. 18. Junction boxes are made with an inner box or case containing a central compartment 9 and several outer compartments 10. In these various compartments, terminal blocks 5, 5<a>, 6, 6<a>, &c. are arranged as indicated, the contactshoulders 11 on the corner blocks are at a lower level than those on the other blocks, and the main bus links 2, which rarely have to be moved, are connected to these low contact-shoulders. " Angle " links " 3 are arranged with suitable terminals 13 to fit on the shoulder contacts on the other blocks, and " turning links" 4<a> &c. can be clamped by other terminal pieces on to the tops of the contactpieces. Stops 15 are arranged to prevent terminal bolts from coming loose, and by preference the links should be mounted with guide-pins such as 15<a>, so that they can only be placed in the desired position or rotated in one direction. With the above arrangement of bridges, conductors brought into the box can be brought out in any way desired, and the main bus-bars may be divided as shown in Fig. II, and fitted with a plug socket so that the halves can be joined if desired. More than four outer compartments may be made in the box, and, when all connexions have been made, the box should be filled with bitumen. Specification No. 24,820, A.D. 1902, is referred to.
