21,409. Mattern, J., and Gr³ner, J. Oct. 21. Loom shedding-motions ; healds.-In a loom for weaving taffeta linen, the warps pass through holes 2 in plates 1, mounted in a frame which may be oscillated about the trunnions 9, by means of rope pulleys, to form the sheds. The corners b of the plates 1 lie between the coils of spiral springs arranged within the guides 3, which engage in notches cut in the plates 1. The distance between the plates 1 may be altered by means of the screws 10, which keep the spiral springs in compression and are adapted to slide along the guides 3. In the arrangement described in the Provisional Specification, the plates 1 are secured by round rods engaging with holes or notches cut in their corners b, and two holes such as 2 are made in each corner a, the second pair being adapted for use after the first pair have become worn.
