Tyres, pneumatic. -The tvre comprises an air tube or envelope C of rubber and canvas which has a thin tread portion and a thickened base or inner portion with wings D for fastening the tyre to the rim. The tread is covered by a sheathing F o f metal, wood, hard rubber, or other unpuncturable material, the edges of which rest in channels formed by shoulders H on the air tube or envelope. Preferably, the tube is partly lined with canvas or the like O, which does not prevent the thinner part from distending. The sheathing F has a central rib J with transverse corrugations to prevent it from creeping on the tube. To prevent slipping, a rubber or like tread L is slipped into a recess K in the sheathing and held in position by the ring M.
