Abstract

15,832. Humphreys, R. V. Aug. 2. Ventilators.-Relates to the ventilation of greenhonses, conservatories, sheds, outhouses, &c. A gap b<3> is left in the ridge or highest point of the roof, and this is covered by a hood c provided with side pieces c<2> which rest normally upon pieces d carried by longitudinal members b. The hood c is carried by pivoted armsf, and is connected at g<1> to a cranked lever g pivoted at l and connected to a lever g<2>, so that by pulling the latter down the hood can be raised for purposes of ventilation. To prevent ingress of rain &c. when the hood is closed, the end portion of the opening b<3> is close by a piece e of sheet lead &c., formed with a roll e<1> adapted to fit into a recess e<2> in the hood. To adjust the position of the hood, the lever g<2> is connected to a pivoted lever i, working over a perforated quadrant i and provided with a pin i<2> which engages with the holes in the quadrant.
