Abstract

12,046. Perrot, E. G. June 20, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Concrete building; buildings with metal skeleton; floors; beams; arches; columns; walls.- The metal trusses of reinforced-concrete structures such as arches, floors, columns, beams, and walls, consist of bulbed bars 1, Figs. 1 and 2, of which the webs are stamped out at intervals to form stirrups or anchors in the concrete. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which four bars 6, 6<1>, 7, 7<1>, wholly or partially parallel, are united by webs stamped out and connected to the floor reinforcing bars. AT-headed bolt 10, insertad in the central web, determines the position of the truss and supports a permanent wooden facing 11 which forms the base of the mould box and facilitates the fixing of shaft hangers. Three bars connected by horizontal webs may be used instead of four. Figs. 11, 12, and 13 show the application to floors and columns. The floor truss has the flanges parallel at the centre but separated at the ends, the lower member 15 being straight and the upper one 16 bent upwards and then parallel to the lower member. The central stirrups are preferably not struck up from the webs, and the other stirrups may project up or down. The floor slabs are reinforced by trusses shown in Fig. 10, with or without projections 26, and arranged as shown in Fig. 13. Deeper floor slabs may be reinforced by the truss shown in Fig. 8. The ends of the trusses engage the upper ends of the stirrups. The column is formed of bars having struck-up webs and bent at the upper ends to strengthen the brackets.
