Wood-screws.- A wood-screw is rendered selfcountersinking by means of a single groove b in the head a, the cutting-edge b<1> of the groove being radial and the edge b<2> tangential to the shank c. The groove may be continued down the whole or part of the length of the screw, and may be helical at the point e. The end of the screw may have a nailpoint grooved or plain to allow of the screw being partly driven by a hammer. When driven, the screw may be locked by a wire &c. inserted in the groove b.
