Abstract

9465. Greene, W. Friese-. May 5. Magic-lantern apparatus.-Relates to means for producing negatives or positives for use with kinematographic apparatus, and also to the means for projecting the animated pictures in their natural colours on a screen, the invention - being applicable t the apparatus described in Specifications No. 22,954, A.D. 1893, No. 22,928, A.D. 1896, No. 21,649, A.D. 1898, and No. 13,883, A.D. 1900, and being an improvement on the invention described in Specification No. 3729, A.D. 1903. In applying the invention to a camera, a prism d of small angle, preferably about twenty degrees, is arranged as shown so as to refract half the light from the lens c and produce a second image q, n adjacent. to the direct image r, j. Colour screens e,f are arranged as shown, and an orthoohromatic film is passed through the plane r, n. In projecting pictures, a wider-angled prism and lighter-coloured screens are used. To obtain greater accuracy in the various colours and tones, a number of different pairs of colours may, be used in succession, and more exposures may be made through one pair of screens than another to bring out the more prominent colours. The apparatus may be made to work and to show the colour records automatically, as well as to regulate the source of illumination as described in Specification No. 13,883, A.D. 1900.
