Apparatus for developing; dark slides.-Dark slides containing the exposed plates or films are bodily introduced into a developing-vessel and the developer is brought into contact with the plate by withdrawal of the shutter of the dark slide. The dark slide C, Fig. 2, has an inner removable plate holder F, and the resilient tongues or other light-tight packing I prevents light from entering when the shutter A is withdrawn. The shutter projects sufficiently far to be withdrawn when the dark slide is in the developing-vessel, Fig. 4. The latter has a similar light-tight device D, and a circuitous liquid inlet E and air escape H. In a modified form of vessel, one face is open, being closed by the back of the dark slide. The liquid rises through channels into the space formed between the plate and the front of the vessel when the shutter is withdrawn. In another form, Fig. 8, the dark slide itself has a liquid opening L, and channels 0, P lead to the space S between the holder F and the shutter A. The shutter is not withdrawn in this case for developing.
