Abstract

6390. Corbould, W. March 25. Banners.-A banner while in the vertical position is rolled like a window blind upon a cross-bar 1 by means of straps, bands, or cords 3 passing over pulleys 2. The cross-bar, which is mounted on the poles 5 by double pivot joints 7, so that the banner can be moved in any direction, carries at one or at each end a pulley 2. The actuating endless strap, band, or cord 3 passes over the pulley 2 and also over a second pulley 4, which is secured to the pole 5 by a clip and a butterfly nut 6 or its equivalent. The pins of the joints 7 pass through bearings 8, which work in caps on the ends of the bar 1. The cross-bar is preferably rotated by an endless strap 3 having eyelet holes which engage with projections on the pulley 2, but the bar may be actuated by means of a cord so fixed on the drum of the pulley 2 that, when the banner is unrolled, the cord winds itself round the drum ready to roll the banner up again.
