Abstract
5518. Allan, W. March 16. Brackets. - Relates to brackets for supporting shelves, displaying articles, &c. which are adjustable on vertical supporting- rods. In one form, Figs. 3 and 4, the bracket a is held in position on a supporting-bar c, which is partially enclosed by a recess in the bracket, by means of a spring d, flat or of other suitable form, pressing against the bar. One end of the spring enters an opening 5 in the bracket, and the other end is engaged by a nut on a clamping-screw e turned by a key. A screw g may also be employed for adjusting the bracket to a horizontal position. Brackets of this type having suitably - formed recesses can also be used for rods of square, circular, or oval cross-section. Another form, Fig. 12, is employed with a flanged rod h, portions 2 of the bracket engaging the flanges of the rod, and the bracket being held by a spring d pressed against the face of the rod by a screw e working in a boss f. In another modification, Fig. 18, lugs 3 have openings 4 to receive detachable shelf-carrying arms.
