Abstract

5263. Jesse, F. March 13. Gauges; measures of length; measures of capacity.- A boxwood scale is divided into a number of columns a each graduated according to the height at which a liquid such as liqueur, spirit, or wine stands in a bottle after consecutive glassfuls have been withdrawn. Each column is graduated according to the size of the bottle, the height to which it is usually filled, and the size of glass associated with the particular liquor to which it relates, and a sliding piece b is provided for adjusting to the liquid level when the scale is held vertical as shown, whereby the number of glassfuls already poured out may be read off.
