The sash stiles B are connected to separate outer sliding stiles A by thumb-screws C passing through the sash and screwing into tapped socket plates E. Plates F on the sash stiles fit round reduced portions of the screws and prevent them from falling out. When the screws are turned back, the part B disengages from weather-beads on the plates E and the window is free to turn on plain parts D of the screws.
