1337. Adlam, E. G. Jan. 24. Aerating liquids.-Beer is cooled and carbonated in a fixed cylinder b, in which a battery of cooling- tubes i is rotated on a central shaft e. The cylinder is surrounded by a non-conducting jacket c and end-pieces d. The ends of the tubes i are fitted into hollow disksj, which communicate with the hollow ends of the shaft e. Chilled brine or other cooling-agent is passed through the tubes, or ammonia or carbon dioxide is expanded within them. Beer is passed into the cylinder through a pipe n, and the battery of tubes slowly rotated. Carbon dioxide is admitted through an inlet b<1>, and the tubes more quickly rotated. The beer is drawn off by a pipe o. Compressed sterilized air or carbon dioxide may be used to expel the beer.
