Abstract
971. Yates, H. Jan. 18. Loom let-off motions; indicating lengths of warp let off.-The yarn in looms for broad or narrow calico and other fabrics is positively drawn off the warp beam d, Fig. 2, by feed-rollers g, h, geared together and driven by bevel and spur gearing o, p, q, t, u, from the take-up roller f. The warps pass between the rollers g, h, over the roller g, direct to the roller j, or preferably first underneath a roller i, mounted in bearing brackets i<x> or in bearings on the loom frame. The rollers g, hare covered with felt or india-rubber, and one of them is spirally grooved by first moulding the covering or wrapping it on in strips, so that individual slack warps may be allowed to slip periodically. By varying the size of the change-wheel p and altering the position of the carrier q in a slotted extension, the speed of the feed-rollers is regalated. A " clock " or counter is driven by worm gearing from the lower feed-roller, and is provided with two fingers, one indicating 100 yards, and the other portions thereof, so that the length or weight of warp used for a given length of cloth can be calculated.
