Abstract
848. Luson, T. G. Jan. 16. Actuating valves; plug cocks.-An apparatus for operating a number of gas valves severally or simultaneously from a distance consists of a small pneumatic hand-pump, shown in Fig. 1, communicating with the valves by pipes g, one for each valve. The cylinder a is provided with a plugshaped extension c fitting closely in a casing d provided with a number of radial passages 4, 5 ... 8, leading to the pipes g, and a recess j, Fig. 3. The plug c is provided with a hole f and a groove k. An indicating-ring h is provided in connexion with a pointer i, to indicate when the hole f registers with the particular passage 8 leading to the valve required to be operated. When all the valves are to be operated together, the plug h turned so that the groove k is open to all the passages 4 ... 8 and to the groove j, as shown in Fig. 3.
