Abstract

16,284. Kochwald, M. July 7. Slide valves.-A piston valve is formed with multiple port admission from the steam-chest to the interior of the valve, whilst the cylinder ports are opened each by one slide-valve edge only. The heads 2 of the piston valve are connected by a ported neck, in which one or more ordinary slide valves 1 are arranged controlling the live-fluid passage 3 and annular grooves 11, 12 on the cylinder. The lap on the edges 17, 18 is less than the admission lap of the central valve or valves, so that the port 5 or 6 is already open at the beginning of admission by the valve or valves 1. The exhaust passes through ports 26, 27 and past the edges 25, 28, of the valve.
