Trunks.-The moulding round the body of metal trunks, boxes, &c. is grooved to receive the lid, which fits water-tight with the body portion and resists prising and lateral displacement. The body blank is formed with a moulding B, the upper side b<2> of which is afterwards formed with a depression or groove D, Fig. 9, to receive the beading g of the hinged lid G. In a modification, the moulding is dispensed with, the groove D being formed as shown in Fig. 6. The flange of the lid is, in this case, flush with the body. The portion C of the body extending beyond the groove D aids in preventing prising. The corners of the moulding may be strengthened by clamps F. The groove may be on the lid instead of on the body.
