Typewriters.- Terminal feedrollers 40 or other pressure devices and a central independently-displaceable feed-roller 26, or several s u c h parts, are arranged in substantial alinement to co-operate with a typewriter platen 8, for retaining a large record sheet b and a smaller bill sheet a, and an interposed carbon sheet c, for condensed record work. The shaft 25 of the roller 26 is mounted in arms 27 loose on the bar 14 of the platen frame. Springs 28, provided with adjustment screws 32, bear against sleeves 24 on the shaft 25, to hold the roller 26 against the platen. The springs 28 are secured to blocks 19 supported by the bar 14 and carrying a paper table 20. The roller 26 is displaced by co-operation of the sleeves 24 with curved fingers 23 on a rock-shaft 21, which is mounted in the blocks 19 and in blocks 43 on the paper table, and is actuated by means of a crank arm or finger 22. A gravity latch 58 is pivoted on the finger 22, and is slotted and recessed for co-operation with a pin 61 on the platen frame to lock the roller 26 in the displaced position. The arms 27 are extended to provide bearings for pins 34, on which a paper plate 35 is mounted. The ends of the arms 27 form limiting abutments for the plate 35, so that the plate 35 is displaced with the roller 26. Spring paper. guide fingers 37 on adjustable slides 39 extend over the plate 35 and are displaced by it. The rollers 40 are mounted in arms 41 loose and spaced by sleeves 42 on the bar 14, and are retained by adjustable springs 44 on the blocks 43. A side-edge paper guide 51 slides in bracket arms 49 on the paper table and is retained by a spring 54.
