Abstract
28,837. Hugunin, R. B. Feb. 19, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Window holders.-Relates to a fastening which secures a sash against opening either when fully closed or when open for ventilation, and is applicable with a slight modification to sashes with and without balance weights. In the sash groove M of the window frame is mortised the plate A, Fig. 1, in an opening in which is pivoted the lever plate C, by means of the hook-formed bearings D' and pivots B<1>, Fig. 5. The plate C is provided with the locking-tongue G and is adapted to be operated by the handle F, which is so curved as to avoid furnishing a bearing- surface for a wire for unlocking the sash from the outside. The spring H acting on the curved arm J of the plate C serves to keep it in the locking position. For sashes without balance weights, this device engages with the strikers L, L<11>, Figs. 8 and 9, arranged in the stile of each sash. The striker L is provided with the locking-bar g<11>, a traversing bar f<111>, and an end-bar f<11> mounted on the plate h<1>, and the striker L<11> with two locking-bars g<11> and end-bars f<11>.
