18,967. James, J. J., [trading as Dutson &Co.]. Aug. 29. Window and door fastenings.-Fig. 1 shows the fastener applied to the first folding-door of a wardrobe or the like. The stud d<2> is mounted on the door frame and the bracket e on the door, or vice versÔ. The bracket e is made with a V-shaped opening, and the hooked catch f is pivoted at g to one side of the centre of the opening. The bracket e may consist of a plate formed with a diamond-shaped opening and then folded over on itself, as shown in Fig. 7. When a doubled bracket of this form is used, the catch f is mounted between the bracket plates. If the catch f is in the closed position when the door is being shut, the pin d<2> strikes on the curved surface f<4> and moves the catch to the open position. The pin d' afterwards comes in contact with the surface f and moves the catch to the closed position with the hook f<1> embracing the pin. The fastener is released by means of the handle f<2> or f<3>, according as the door is the right-hand or the lefthand one. When the fastening is applied to a single door, provision may be made for releasing it from the outside by means of a push-piece &c. When it is applied to a French window or casement, it is placed on the inside, and no releasing- pusher is necessary; levers may, however, be mounted on the bracket plate to operate the catch.
