Abstract

27,922. Tildesley, W. H. Dec. 20. Traps.-A mole trap is so arranged that the setter falls into position when the jaws are forced apart. Two strips A, B of metal, bent into the form shown, are pivoted together by the pin C around which is coiled a spring D, the ends of which press against projections on the strips A, B and tend to force the jaws together. The setter F consists of a piece of metal of the shape shown, with projections f<2>, f3 passing through V-shaped slots G in cross-bars E', E' joining the opposite sides of the levers A, B. Shoulders press against tongues between the arms of the slots G and hold the trap set till the setter is struck, when the shoulders pass through the arms of the slots G. When the tops of the handles A, B are pressed together so as to open the jaws of the trap, the setter F falls into position. In a modification, a setter of ordinary shape is used, and is hung on a cross-wire passing through holes in the pieces E<1>, E<2>.
