Blasting and mining cartridges. - Detonating- tubes are made by filling with melted tri-nitrotoluene or tri-nitro-benzene a tube of lead or tin and, after the explosive has cooled, reducing the tube to the required diameter in a rolling-mill or by means of a draw-plate. Tubes of small diameter may be strengthened by a plaited sheathing like that of bursting fuzes.
